Abstract

Seed potatoes are a potential potato plant that really determines the quality of the harvest, therefore one ofthe efforts that can be implemented is to avoid deformation. Through this research, we will look for theinfluence of deformation, which is a change in the shape of an object due to receiving force or whenworking. This research uses a Tension and Compression Testing Machine which is a Universal TestingMachine, specially configured to determine material strength and deformation behavior under compressiveloads. Seed potatoes will be used as test material. This research aims to determine the effect of variationsin the load given to potatoes, determine the level of growth capacity of seed potatoes during the storageperiod, and determine the level of growth capacity of seed potatoes after planting. This study implementeda one-factor completely randomized design (CRD). The load variations tested included 0 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg,30 kg, 40 kg, and 50 kg, with each load repeated three times. Variables measured included the number ofshoots, damage to potato seeds, plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, and tuber weight. The results ofpotato growth by applying loads of 0 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg, 30 kg, 40 kg, and 50 kg had a significant impact onplant height, number of leaves, and leaf area, but did not have a significant impact on the number of potatoshoots. The research results showed that P1 was able to produce the best productivity with an average valueof plant height of 8,06 cm, number of leaves of 28,3 cm, and leaf area of 8 cm2.
