Abstract

Subak is a social organization in Bali that specifically regulates traditional water distribution system to grow rice. With the rapid development of this time, the existence of subak is threatened because of the conversion of land to other uses outside the agricultural sector which causes open green space to be increasingly reduce. Environmental services are the services provided by the ecosystem functions that have direct and indirect benefits to human welfare. This research analyzed to changes in soil quality in subak, in the conditions before planting and after harvest an to show subak contribution to the environment. This study used survey method, physical soil test in the laboratory. The samples were taken by random sampling, from Subak Kerdung, Subak Jatiluwih and Subak Lodtunduh. The soil qualities were assessed using scoring technique based on the physical parameters. The soil physical parameters observed were texture, porosity, field capacity, bulk density and particle density. The result of research showed that the change in soil quality on the subak land was be better. Contribution of subak can be seen from the physical soil parameters, that is increased porosity and decreased bulk density of subak. Subak Jatiluwih in the before planting phased had porosity of 56,27% and then 66,91% after harvest phase. The best change of bulk density in Subak Jatiluwih in the before planting phase is 1,05 g/cm3 and then decreased to 0,92 g/cm3 after harvest phase. Environmental services of subak system is able to maintain and improve the quality of the soil through theability to cultivate the soil.

Abstract

Hand tractor is one of the technology tools and agricultural machinery that has been widely used by farmers in processing agricultural land as a substitute for human labor and livestock power. The use of hand tractors in Baturiti, especially in the Candikuning Village has been applied for more than 20 years because the time to process land is faster than using manual labor. This study aims to analyze the satisfaction and effectiveness of farmers' work on the use of hand tractors in the Candikuning Village, Baturiti, Tabanan, Bali. Determination of the sample using purposive sampling method. The number of respondences is 30 farmers with the criteria of farmers who own agricultural land, own hand tractors, and use hand tractors. The study was conducted in April - May 2019. The analysis used descriptive methods to describe the characteristics of farmers. Analysis of consumer satisfaction using Important Performance Analysis (IPA) and Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI), as well as Effectiveness Analysis to measure the effectiveness of farmer’s work. Research shows that hand tractor users are dominated by farmers of productive age groups (50%), with an elementary-junior high school level (73.34%), with side jobs as suppliers, traders, and drivers (40%). The Importance Performance Analysis results obtained an average suitability level between performance and importance of 87.04% with a range of values ranging from 54.84% in the price of the hand tractor to 100% in the attribute of easy operation of the machine. Customer Satisfaction Index analysis results obtained by 57.26%. The effectiveness of farmer’s work on the use of hand tractors is 91.15%. From the results of the study concluded that farmers felt quite satisfied with the use of hand tractors and the work of farmers on the use of hand tractors was effective.

Abstract

The composting is the one alternative to increase the value of waste and usability of organic waste. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of food waste and paper waste on C/N ratio and to determine the mixtures ratio of the food waste and paper waste toward C/N ratio and the quality of compost in accordance to Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 19- 7030-2004. The ratio of materials used in this research was food waste and paper namely: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 and 0:1, respectively. The composting was conducted in six of Tahiron New Garden Bag 2 used as a bioreactor in this research. The temperature and pH were collected every day for 60 days. The water content was observed every 4 days. The organic C levels (%) and Nitrogen levels (%) was observed in 7 days. The 1:1 material ratio showed two times of the thermophilic stage which occurred on the 14th and 34th days for 46 oC and respectivly 46.3oC. The material ratio of 1:2 and 1:3 was able to reach the mesophilic temperature while the 0: 1 treatment did not increase temperature. The C/N ratio before composting of the 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 and 0:1 material ratio were 24.44, 40.60, 52.06 and 71.81 respectively. While the C/N ratio after composting of the 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 and 0:1 material ratio were 12.06, 37.00, 42.85 and 104.84, respectively. The mixtures ratio of the food waste and paper waste in accordance with Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 19-7030-20014 was the 1:1 material ratio treatment which have a final moisture content of 35%, final temperature of 23.3 oC, final pH of 7.2, final C/N ratio of 12.6 and final organic matter of 53%.
