Abstract

The water availability does not meet the water requirement of banana plants has been the main issue causing a non-optimal production. Presumably, it is due to the application of pump power. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the amount of pump power needed to meet the irrigation water needs. The purposes of this study were to determine the pump power requirement and to design a pump application schedule to meet the irrigation water requirement of banana plants. Primary data is obtained by measuring the available discharge.Secondary data was obtained from BMKG Jembrana Regency. This study employed the principle of water balance. The collected data was then analyzed to determine the amount of power needed when the shortage of water occurred. The results showed that the pump power requirement for each banana cultivation period was 3.1 kW, March-April 5.0 kW, May-June 11.0 kW, July-August and September-October of 16.5 kW, and November-December of 0 kW. The Pump usage schedule at PT. Nusantara Segar Abadi in the January-February period requires one pump unit with an operating time of 0.8 hours, March-April requires one pump unit with an operating time of 6.4 hours, May-June requires two pump units with an operating time of 8, 7 hours, the period of July-August and September-October requires three pump units with an operating time of 10.5 hours and 10.2 hours, and the period November-December does not require a pump.

Abstract

The efficiency of distribution becomes the basis in the distribution of irrigation water in subak irrigation systems. The condition of the distribution efficiency in telabah aya is influenced by the physical condition of the canal, particularly depending on the type of lining canal used. The application of lining canals in Subak, Badung Regency is proof that it has a lot of influence in irrigation distribution. The information on thedistribution efficiency is required for the lining of telabah as a basic reference value in irrigation water distribution. The method used in this study is quantitative surveys and lining observations, and direct measurements of debit variables in telabahaya. Lining observations are based on 30 objects with lining canals in Badung regency. The flow speed measurement was carried out using buoy instruments. The size of the flow cross-section was measured with a roll meter. Measurement of water discharge wasperformed upstream and downstream of telabah aya to get the amount of initial discharge and final discharge as a basis for determining the efficiency of distribution. The lining canal used in telabah aya in Badung Regency is 77% types of stone and l-shapeconcrete as much as 23%. The value of distribution efficiency for telabah aya with stone lining by 75.20% and l-shape concrete type by 93.07%. This difference in efficiency value is due to the lining canal conditions in each telabah aya.

Abstract

Waste management at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP), Udayana University (Unud) has not been carried out properly. FTP has not implemented waste segregation at the source and burning waste which is prohibited following Law No. 18 of 2008. Therefore, a temporary waste storage building was needed to be able to carry out the waste handling and processing process. The purpose of the research is to plan the layout of the temporary waste collection building by considering the type of waste and the existing waste generation. This study used primary data and secondary data. Primary data was obtained from measurement waste generation referred to national Indonesian Standard or SNI 19-3964-1994. Secondary data was conducted a literature study of similar previous research, interviewed to find out the waste management system in FTP, and observed the number of populations who visit the building. An estimation approach was made on the waste generation data obtained becausethe research was conducted during a pandemic. The data obtained and calculated were the weight of 45.85 kg/day and the volume of 1.12 m3/day. The composition of the waste found was leaf waste with a percentage of 55.14%, plastic waste 5.57%, paper waste 4.41%, food waste 9.99 % residual waste 24.89%. The layout used is theU-Shaped type. The sequence of each area in this waste collection building was the reception area, the sorting area, organic waste counting room, composting room, storage room, sanitary room, warehouse, office, and parking area. The layout planning of the temporary waste collection building with the total area of land required from the calculation was 144 m2 (14.4 m x 10.0 m). The placement of the building to the west of the greenhouse FTP Unud and the road access was planned not to interfere with campus mobility.
