Abstract

This descriptive study analyzes the Midterm Test (UTS) scores of Physics for grades XII Science 1 and XII Science 2 at SMA Muhammadiyah Banyuresmi and explores the factors behind students' declining interest in learning science. Data were collected through documentation of UTS scores from both classes (37 students each) and analyzed quantitatively to determine passing percentages, and qualitatively to explore possible causes. The results show that the average score in XII Science 1 was 22.97 and in XII Science 2 was 21.76, both far below the minimum mastery criterion (KKM) of 75. Only 8% of students in XII Science 1 and 3% in XII Science 2 passed the KKM. Literature analysis suggests that low scores relate to monotonous lecture-based teaching methods, lack of practicum activities, low mathematical foundations, misconceptions, and low learning motivation. The study concludes that innovative and interactive teaching strategies, such as Problem Based Learning, Quantum Teaching, and Project Based Learning, along with the use of teaching aids and direct observation of physics phenomena, are needed to increase students' interest and achievement in Physics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis nilai PSAT (Penilaian Sumatif) Fisika siswa kelas XI MIA-5 SMAN 17 Garut sebagai dasar evaluasi proses pembelajaran fisika. Metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif diterapkan pada nilai seluruh 36 siswa, dianalisis menggunakan rata-rata, varians, simpangan baku, distribusi kategori nilai, dan persentase ketuntasan belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata nilai sebesar 65,36 dengan simpangan baku 20,76, yang mengindikasikan variasi kemampuan siswa yang cukup tinggi. Berdasarkan interval kategori, 2,8% siswa berada pada kategori sangat rendah, 25% rendah, 30,6% sedang, 27,8% tinggi, dan 13,9% sangat tinggi. Mengacu pada Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal sebesar 69, hanya 18 dari 36 siswa (50%) yang mencapai ketuntasan, yaitu 25 poin persentase di bawah standar ketuntasan klasikal sebesar 75%. Selisih rata-rata antara nilai siswa yang belum tuntas dengan KKM adalah 21,50 poin, menunjukkan kesenjangan konseptual yang cukup besar. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa proses pembelajaran fisika di kelas XI MIA-5 belum sepenuhnya efektif dan diperlukan strategi pengajaran yang lebih adaptif, variatif, dan terstruktur untuk mengurangi kesenjangan capaian.
