Abstract

Children in orphanages face challenges in preparing for financial independence due to a lack of early financial management understanding and skills. This Community Service (PkM) activity at the Rumah Harapan Orphanage, Serang Baru, Bekasi, aims to increase children's understanding of early childhood saving by introducing money, providing training on the importance of saving from a young age, and introducing the role and function of piggy banks as well as banking institutions. This activity was divided into three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation methods included lectures, storytelling, question-and-answer sessions, and discussions. The PkM was carried out effectively and formed a pattern of transforming the children's financial awareness through three main phases: concept recognition and understanding by grasping money denominations, types, and authenticity; value association and motivation by linking saving to their aspirations; and behavioral habit formation through a 30-day "Magic of Saving" challenge. The long-term impact of this activity includes the children's ability to appreciate the value of money, cultivate critical thinking in distinguishing between needs and wants, and establish saving habits as a responsible lifestyle into adulthood.
