Abstract

This study aimed to examine the correlation between loneliness and internet addiction among overseas students at Malikussaleh University. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data were collected using loneliness and internet addiction scales and analyzed using the Product Moment correlation technique. The results showed a positive and significant correlation between loneliness and internet addiction, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.447 (p 0.001). The descriptive analysis indicated that loneliness was categorized as low, with an empirical mean of 49.925, a hypothetical mean of 63.000, and a standard deviation of 10.369. Meanwhile, internet addiction was categorized as moderate, with an empirical mean of 48.434, a hypothetical mean of 50.000, and a standard deviation of 7.438. These findings indicate that higher levels of loneliness among overseas students are associated with higher levels of internet addiction. Therefore, a significant positive correlation was found between loneliness and internet addiction among overseas students at Malikussaleh University.
