Abstract

This research aims to identify and describe the profile of algebraic errors made by students in completing integral calculus operations through literature study. The research uses a qualitative approach with literature study methods. Data was obtained from eight national journal articles published in the period 2016– 2026 and discussed student errors in integral calculus. Data analysis was carried out using content analysis through a process of grouping and synthesizing previous research findings. The results of the study show that algebra errors are one of the main factors that cause students to experience difficulties in solving integral problems. The dominant errors include algebraic manipulation errors, power and fraction operations, procedural errors in applying integration techniques, as well as conceptual errors in understanding the relationship between algebra and calculus. It is concluded that strengthening algebra skills as prerequisite material is very necessary to increase student success in studying integral calculus.
