Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary schools still faces problems such as low student motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes due to the use of less innovative teaching methods. In addition, students’ difficulties in understanding abstract mathematical concepts indicate the need for more interactive and meaningful learning strategies. This study aims to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize the effectiveness of the cooperative learning model of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) type in improving the quality of mathematics learning. This research employs a qualitative approach with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) design. The research subjects consist of 10 scientific articles that have been selected based on inclusion criteria and relevance to the research topic. Data were collected using a documentation technique with an instrument in the form of a data extraction sheet validated through expert judgment. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative descriptive techniques through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the TGT model is effective in improving learning outcomes, motivation, student activeness, and social skills in mathematics learning. Furthermore, the implementation of TGT creates an enjoyable learning atmosphere and enhances active student participation. The effectiveness of this model is further optimized when combined with concrete and digital learning media. In conclusion, the TGT model is an innovative learning strategy that can address the problem of low-quality mathematics learning in elementary schools. The implication of this study is that teachers need to adopt interactive cooperative learning models to improve the learning quality.
