Abstract

Learning Ulumul Hadith in Islamic Higher Education still faces challenges challenges in improving students' cognitive learning outcomes. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Digital Video-Based Meaningful Learning Model on students' cognitive learning outcomes in the Ulumul Hadith course at KH. Ahmad Sanusi Institute, Sukabumi. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of 260 students, including 130 students in the experimental group and 130 students in the control group. Data were collected through cognitive achievement tests, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired-samples t-test, independent-samples t-test, Cohen's d effect size, and the N-Gain Score. The findings indicate that the Meaningful Learning Model Based on Digital Video (MPBBVD) significantly improves students' cognitive learning outcomes and is more effective than conventional instruction. The integration of Meaningful Learning, digital video, and the ACTIVE syntax (Attend, Connect, Think, Interpret, Verify, and Evaluate) creates a more active, meaningful, and effective learning process, enhancing students' conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills in the Ulumul Hadith course. Therefore, MPBBVD not only improves conceptual understanding and cognitive learning outcomes but also serves as an innovative instructional model to support the transformation of Ulumul Hadith learning in Islamic higher education in the digital era.
