Abstract

Community-based da'wah can become a low-threshold entry point for people who feel alienated from formal religious spaces, including individuals with histories of drug and alcohol misuse. This study analyzes the da'wah methods, program outcomes and constraints, and the roles of preachers in the Bikers Dakwah Community. The research employed a constructivist qualitative single-case study. Data were collected through an interview with the community founder, direct observation at Pillion Coffee in South Jakarta on 17 November 2024, and analysis of community documents and digital content. The findings show that Bikers Dakwah combines al-Bayanuni's emotional, rational, and sensory methods through an egalitarian ethos of “embraced, not struck,” dialogic study, Qur'an learning, congregational worship, riding, sports, and nature-based activities. These practices build trust through stages consistent with social penetration theory and support spiritual routines, social reintegration, and an anti-drug peer identity. The preacher functions as educator, facilitator, and behavioral model. However, the community faces inconsistent attendance, limited monitoring outside activities, stigma, and relapse risks. Its contribution is best understood as spiritual-social recovery support that complements, rather than replaces, professional clinical rehabilitation.
