Abstract

Teachers' efforts to develop mathematics learning tools must not only be aligned with the curriculum but also with the context of real-world problems occurring in the students' environments. Numerous studies have been conducted on the use of context in mathematics learning. However, learning tools that utilize the COVID-19 context are still limited. The main objective of this research is to develop statistics learning tools through a realistic approach within the COVID-19 context that are valid, practical, and effective. To achieve this goal, development research was conducted using the Tessmer model, which consists of preliminary phases, self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one, small group, and field testing. The results show that the developed learning tools meet the criteria for validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Validity is achieved because all validators have stated that the developed learning tools are theoretically and empirically valid. The development of the tools is based on a strong theoretical foundation and the components are interconnected and consistent. The developed learning tools meet the practical criteria because the validators stated that the developed learning tools can be theoretically implemented in the field, and the results of the learning implementation test meet the criteria for very good. The effectiveness of the learning device was achieved because the trial results showed that the learning device met five of the six established effectiveness indicators: an average percentage of results on assigned tasks of 91%, an average student activity of 90%, a match between observed student activities and expected student activities of more than 80%, a positive student response to the developed learning device of more than 50%, and a positive teacher response to the developed learning device.

Abstract

Good mathematical communication can improve learning outcomes. However, there are not many studies that reveal students' mathematical communication skills. This study aims to describe students' mathematical communication skills in solving problems during mathematics learning on social arithmetic material with a cooperative model of the think talk write type. This study was conducted in class VIIA of SMP PKPU Aceh Besar consisting of 23 students. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The subjects in this study were six students who had not met the KKM from the teacher, while the objects were the results of written tests and interviews with research subjects. To obtain research data, observations, interviews with research subjects, and tests were carried out. After all the data were collected, the qualitative data were analyzed descriptively, while the test result data were assessed based on the guidelines for assessing mathematical communication skills. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that students' mathematical communication skills through the application of the TTW cooperative learning model are influenced by students' mathematical abilities. Therefore, teachers can apply the TTW model in mathematics learning to improve students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

Students have difficulty in learning mathematics because they do not understand the basic concepts of mathematics. one of the causes is because mathematics is taught as something abstract, monotonous and less interesting. Innovations and alternatives in improving students' mathematical understanding are needed, one of them is technology-based learning. This is in line with the 2013 curriculum requirements to integrate technology into learning process. The integration can be done with TPACK-based learning that is merging of Technology, Pedagogy, and Content Knowledge. Learning will also be more meaningful for students if teachers can present contextual and realistic problems, ie with a realistic mathematical approach. One of the material studied by the students is the equation and quadratic function related to the function graph in cartesian coordinate system.. Although drawing coordinate points in the Cartesian field has already been studied by students at the junior level, students' understanding of the material is still low, as it requires reasoning and skill. The purpose of this research is to know how the students' mathematical understanding through TPACK realistic mathematics approach. The method used was Design Research at the Pre Prototyping Research phase involving 25 students of X MAN 1 Meulaboh. Data were collected through student answer analysis. The results obtained that the learning through realistic mathematical approach based on TPACK can help students understand the material graph of quadratic functions well, but not yet perfect. This is seen in each indicator of understanding that can be achieved well. However, the indicator of ability to apply the concept algorithm and the ability to present the concept in various forms of representation is still low.

Abstract

Education is the most fundamental factor for human life. Education aims to foster various potentials in humans, including the potential to solve various problems, one of which is solving mathematical problems. This study aims to describe students' problem-solving abilities during mathematics learning on social arithmetic material with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model implemented in class VIIA of SMPN 1 Pante Ceureumen, totaling 25 students. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. To obtain research data, treatment, problem-solving tests, and interviews were given. The research subjects were taken after a test was conducted at the end of the meeting, so that 2 subjects with very capable abilities, 2 subjects with capable abilities, and 2 subjects with less capable abilities were obtained. Furthermore, interviews were conducted with the six subjects. After all the data was collected, the qualitative data was analyzed descriptively, while the test result data was analyzed based on the guidelines for assessing students' problem-solving abilities. Based on the analysis of the data, it can be concluded that students' problem-solving abilities through the application of the PBL model are influenced by students' mathematical abilities. Therefore, this model can be one solution that can be applied to arouse students' enthusiasm for learning in class.

Abstract

One of the problems faced by teachers at SMK Negeri 2 Meulaboh is that they are hampered by choosing learning media that is integrated with technology. Therefore, it is necessary to choose the right application that is easy to use with maximum results. One media that is suitable for delivering interesting teaching material is using Canva media. Researchers consider this application training to be very important to help teachers create interesting learning media. The results of interviews with several teachers at SMK Negeri 2 Meulaboh showed that the use of Canva media as a learning medium has not been carried out optimally and the use of Canva media as an educational tool is still rarely done. The solution that can be given to solve this problem is to provide a learning workshop using Canva to support the implementation of TPACK. The activities carried out include workshops and teacher assistance in making learning media. From the results of the activities, it can be concluded that the implementation of workshops and teacher assistance can provide new knowledge and skills for teachers in creating learning media using Canva. As well as producing a positive response to the way training and mentoring are implemented.
