Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Deep Learning model in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning and to examine its impact on improving students’ learning outcomes and critical thinking skills at SMKN 2 Sukabumi. The background of this research is based on the low level of student engagement in the learning process, which affects suboptimal learning outcomes and weak critical thinking abilities. This research uses a qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the implementation of the Deep Learning model makes the learning process more active and meaningful. Students are not only passive recipients of information but are also involved in activities such as analysis, discussion, and connecting concepts to real-life situations. This condition leads to an improvement in learning outcomes, indicated by more structured and well-reasoned student answers. In addition, students’ critical thinking skills also develop, as shown by their willingness to express opinions, ask questions, and respond to peers’ ideas. Although there are some challenges, such as differences in students’ abilities and limited instructional time, these can be managed through appropriate teaching strategies. Overall, the Deep Learning model contributes positively to improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning at SMKN 2 Sukabumi.
