Abstract

This study is motivated by the issue of structural poverty in Sumedang Regency, which is characterized by high school dropout rates and limited access to quality education. The study aims to analyze the forms of school habituation and the process of social capital formation among students at Integrated People’s School 4 Sumedang. Using a qualitative case study method, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with 10 informants, and documentation. The findings reveal that habituation is developed through the “PANCA INSUN BERBINTANG” program, which integrates academic and dormitory activities. This process effectively reconstructs students’ previous unproductive habits into new dispositions (habitus). Furthermore, the habituation process encourages the formation of social capital in the form of trust, norms of reciprocity, and social networks. Such social capital becomes a strategic asset for students from underprivileged families to break the cycle of poverty through social transformation.
