Abstract

This study examines the political function of education in national curriculum reform amid globalization. The phenomenon of globalization has led to significant changes in the education system due to the demand for 21st-century skills, digital literacy, and global competition. In this context, curriculum reform is not merely a pedagogical process but also a politically charged process influenced by government policies, ideological perspectives, economic interests, and foreign pressure. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature review method through the analysis of various educational policy documents, scientific articles, books, and other relevant references. Data were analyzed using content analysis, critical policy analysis, and discourse analysis to explore the interrelationships between educational politics, globalization, and curriculum reform. The findings indicate that educational politics plays a crucial role in determining the direction, content, and implementation of the national curriculum. Curriculum changes in Indonesia reflect the interaction between domestic interests and global demands, particularly regarding the implementation of technology-based learning, the strengthening of character education, the development of competencies, and flexibility within the curriculum. However, this process of change still faces a number of challenges, such as educational disparities, a lack of infrastructure
