Abstract

Teacher performance is a critical determinant of educational quality at the elementary school level. This study aims to analyze the effect of work motivation and work experience on teacher performance in public elementary schools in Tumijajar District, Tulang Bawang Barat Regency. A quantitative approach with an explanatory survey method was employed. The population consisted of 30 teachers, and a sample of 20 teachers was selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire (1–4) that had been tested for validity and reliability. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted after fulfilling normality, linearity, and homogeneity prerequisites. The results indicate that: (1) work motivation has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (t-count = 3.377 > t-table = 2.042; Sig. = 0.004); (2) work experience also has a positive and significant effect (t-count = 6.624 > t-table = 2.042; Sig. = 0.002); (3) simultaneously, both variables have a significant effect on teacher performance (F-count = 35.073 > F-table = 3.34; Sig. = 0.000) with a coefficient of determination R² = 0.722, meaning that 72.2% of the variation in teacher performance is explained by motivation and work experience. This study recommends strengthening both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and optimizing the use of work experience through structured reflection and professional collaboration.
