Abstract

The Korean Wave phenomenon, especially Korean dramas, has become increasingly popular among university students and has the potential to influence their social interaction patterns. This study aims to determine the level of Korean drama consumption, describe the social interaction patterns of Islamic Education students at UIN Mataram, and analyze the influence of Korean drama consumption on students’ social interactions. This research used a quantitative approach with an ex post facto research design. The population consisted of 1,085 students of the Islamic Education Department at UIN Mataram, with a sample of 160 respondents selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis employed descriptive statistics and simple linear regression using IBM SPSS Statistics 26. The results showed that the level of Korean drama consumption among students was categorized as high, while students’ social interactions were categorized as good. The regression test results indicated that Korean drama consumption had a positive and significant effect on the social interactions of Islamic Education students at UIN Mataram, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a coefficient of determination of 19.5%. Therefore, Korean drama consumption influences students’ communication patterns, social relationships, and interaction behavior within the campus environment.
