Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field of education provides new opportunities to improve students’ critical thinking skills in mathematics learning. However, research on the relationship between AI and critical thinking skills in mathematics is still limited. This study aims to analyze the implementation of AI in mathematics learning using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method following the PRISMA stages. Data were collected from various academic databases published between 2020 and 2026, resulting in 35 articles that met the specified criteria. The findings show that AI technologies such as ChatGPT, Generative AI, MathGPT, Intelligent Tutoring Systems, and Adaptive Learning Systems have a positive impact on students’ mathematical critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, motivation, and learning independence. Nevertheless, the implementation of AI still faces challenges such as teacher readiness, limited infrastructure, and the risk of dependency on technology. Therefore, the use of AI in mathematics learning requires proper supervision and appropriate strategies to maximize its benefits.
