Abstract

Natural and Social Sciences Education (IPAS) in elementary school aims to form a holistic understanding and awareness of students towards the environment. However, in practice, social studies learning shows that there is a gap between ideal conditions and learning reality. This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of grade IV students of SD Negeri 1 Pujungan in social studies subjects such as the topic "My Region and Natural Resources". A total of 65% of students have not reached the KKTP. The main problems include limited learning resources, lack of variety of learning media, and the learning process that is still verbalistic and boring. This research aims to develop learning media in the form of an effective design-based animation video to improve the learning outcomes of grade IV students of SDN 1 Pujungan on the materials of my region and its natural resources. The research method used by Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects amounted to 29 grade IV students. The research instruments include validation sheets of subject matter experts and media experts, teacher and student response questionnaires to measure practicality, and pre-test and post-test questionnaires to determine the increase in students' learning interest. The results of the study showed that the developed media obtained a very valid category, with an average score of 4.95 from material experts and 5.0 from media experts. The results of the practicality test showed that the media was in the very practical category based on the responses of teachers and students. Meanwhile, the results of the effectiveness test showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05) with an increase in average learning outcomes of 24.862 points after the use of media. Thus, design thinking-based animation video media is declared feasible, practical, and effective to be used to improve student learning outcomes in science learning in elementary schools.
