Abstract

This study aims to analyze the achievements of Islamic civilization during the Abbasid period and the factors that influenced its progress and decline. The research method used is qualitative with a library research approach through data collection from relevant books, journals, and historical literature. The results show that the Abbasid Dynasty became a center of world civilization through the development of scientific institutions such as the House of Wisdom, the emergence of great Muslim scholars, and an advanced and open education system. This golden age was supported by political stability, government support for knowledge, and openness to foreign cultures. However, the decline of the Abbasid Dynasty was caused by internal conflicts and external invasions such as the Mongol attack. The study concludes that the success of Islamic civilization during the Abbasid period was strongly influenced by political strength and the systematic development of knowledge.
