Abstract

Effective oral communication skills are essential in the 21st century, yet students often exhibit low participation and a lack of confidence in speaking. This study aims to analyze the influence of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' oral communication skills, identify research trends across educational levels and subject areas, and examine innovative supporting media. The methodology employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA 2020 protocol, analyzing 20 selected scientific articles published between 2021 and 2026 from Scopus and Google Scholar databases. The results indicate that publication trends have shifted from macro-effectiveness testing to micro-exploration of specific indicators such as articulation of ideas and courage in expressing opinions. Research distribution is heavily dominated by secondary education (65%), and surprisingly, the model is most frequently explored within the field of mathematics (45%) to dynamize traditionally rigid subjects. Furthermore, PBL optimization currently relies significantly on digitalization, utilizing STEM-based E-LKPD and interactive media as catalysts for intensive group discussion. Theoretically, these findings redefine PBL as a universal applied linguistic strategy, while practically, educators are encouraged to integrate digital media to reduce students' psychological barriers to speaking.
