Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ growth mindset through the implementation of the Inquiry Based Learning model in Phase D students of Class VIII-2 at SMP Swasta RK Delimurni Diski. The problem addressed in this study was the low level of students’ growth mindset, reflected in their lack of confidence in facing challenges, tendency to give up easily, and limited openness to criticism during the learning process. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles. Data were collected through observation using learning implementation instruments and students’ growth mindset observation sheets. The results showed that the implementation of the Inquiry Based Learning model improved both the learning process and students’ growth mindset. The average score of learning implementation increased from 85% in Cycle I to 100% in Cycle II. In addition, the average score of students’ growth mindset increased from 78% in Cycle I to 90% in Cycle II. Improvements were seen in students’ belief that abilities can develop, willingness to accept challenges, positive perspectives toward failure, positive attitudes toward effort, and ability to learn from criticism. Students became more active, confident, and resilient during the learning process. The study concludes that the Inquiry Based Learning model is effective in improving students’ growth mindset in Catholic Religious Education learning. Teachers are expected to apply this model continuously to enhance students’ engagement and growth mindset.
