Abstract

This study was motivated by the low social skills of elementary school students in social studies learning, particularly in communication, cooperation, and social interaction caused by teacher-centered learning. The study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Role Playing learning model in improving students’ social skills in elementary school social studies classes. This research used the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by analyzing articles obtained from Google Scholar. The selection process applied inclusion criteria related to the Role Playing model, social skills, social studies learning, elementary school level, and publication years 2022–2026. A total of 10 scientific articles were selected and analyzed. The results showed that the Role Playing model effectively improved students’ communication skills, cooperation, self-confidence, social interaction, and active participation in learning. The model also created a more interactive and meaningful learning environment because students were directly involved in contextual situations through role-playing activities. However, several obstacles were found, such as limited learning time and students’ lack of confidence. Therefore, appropriate classroom management is needed to optimize the implementation of the Role Playing model in elementary school social studies learning.
