Abstract

This study aims to describe the utilization of environmental-based dance movement exploration in developing the creativity of fifth-grade students at SDN Cipanengah CBM. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method involving 29 fifth-grade students and one classroom teacher. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results showed that 20 out of 29 students (68.96%) were initially categorized as passive in dance learning activities. After the implementation of environmental-based dance movement exploration, students demonstrated improved creativity, reflected in greater confidence in self-expression, the ability to create and develop movement ideas, and increased active participation in learning. The surrounding environment served as a meaningful learning resource that stimulated students’ creativity. Therefore, environmental-based dance movement exploration can be used as an effective learning strategy to develop creativity among elementary school students.
