Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of implementing a problem-based learning model supported by a flipped classroom on the cognitive learning outcomes of 11th grade students in the second semester at MAN 1 Medan. The population in this study consisted of all 11th-grade students, comprising two classes, and the sampling method used was cluster random sampling. Class XI-6 served as the experimental class with 35 students, and Class XI-5 served as the control class with 35 students. The instrument used was a multiple-choice test consisting of 20 questions, which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using the independent samples t-test and N-gain. The results of the data analysis showed an improvement in the experimental class compared to the control class, with mean pretest and posttest scores in the experimental class of 40.85 and 76.14, respectively, while in the control class they were 40.28 and 61.57. The results of the independent samples t-test analysis indicate that the problem-based learning model supported by the flipped classroom has an effect on student learning outcomes with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05.
