This study aimed to (1) analyze the explanatory text writing ability of class IX students at Masehi Private Junior High School Berastagi taught using the problem-based learning model assisted by Padlet media; (2) analyze the explanatory text writing ability of class IX students at Masehi Private Junior High School Berastagi taught using the contextual learning model assisted by Padlet media; and (3) analyze the effect of the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by Padlet media on the explanatory text writing ability of class IX students at Masehi Private Junior High School Berastagi. This study employed a quantitative approach using an experimental method with a two-group posttest-only design. The population consisted of all class IX students of Masehi Private Junior High School Berastagi in the 2025/2026 academic year. The sample consisted of an experimental class taught using the problem-based learning model assisted by Padlet media and a control class taught using the contextual learning model assisted by Padlet media. The data were collected through an explanatory text writing test. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis tests to determine the effect of the treatment. The mean posttest score of the control class was 71.17, while that of the experimental class was 84.45. The results of the Independent Samples T-Test showed a t-value of -6.313 with a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of < 0.001. The findings revealed that the problem-based learning model assisted by Padlet media had a significant effect on the explanatory text writing ability of Class IX students at Masehi Private Junior High School Berastagi.
