Abstract

Mathematics learning, particularly on the topic of Data Presentation, requires students to read, interpret, and represent data accurately, a skill that many Grade IV students find challenging due to limited exposure to meaningful problem-solving experiences. This condition was reflected in low outcomes at SDN Gadang 1 Malang, where the pre-cycle average was 70, below the KKM of 75, with only 36% mastery. This study aimed to describe improvements in student activity and cognitive outcomes through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Zeeb Quiz digital media. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design following Kemmis and McTaggart was applied over two cycles. PBL was implemented through five syntaxes: orienting students to problems, organizing students to learn, guiding investigation, developing and presenting work, and analyzing and evaluating. Subjects were 25 Grade IV students. Data were collected through activity observation sheets and individual outcome tests. The class average rose from 70 to 80 in Cycle I, then to 89 in Cycle II. Mastery climbed from 36% to 68%, then reached 92%, surpassing the 85% threshold. Engagement also improved markedly after the Zeeb Quiz format shifted to a device-based group competition. PBL combined with Zeeb Quiz proved effective in enhancing learning engagement and cognitive outcomes on Data Presentation.
