Abstract

This study was motivated by the persistence of bullying behavior in schools, which may negatively affect students' social and psychological development. One factor believed to influence such behavior is self-concept. This study aimed to determine the level of students’ self-concept, the level of bullying behavior tendencies, and the influence of self-concept on bullying behavior tendencies among twelfth-grade students at SMA Negeri 12 Kota Jambi. The study employed a quantitative approach using an ex post facto method. The sample consisted of 119 students selected through a simple random sampling technique from a population of 169 students. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using statistical techniques. The results showed that most students possessed a high level of self-concept, while the tendency toward bullying behavior was categorized as low. Furthermore, the findings indicated that self-concept had a significant influence on students' bullying behavior tendencies. Students with a more positive self-concept were less likely to engage in bullying behavior. These findings highlight the importance of developing a positive self-concept as one of the preventive efforts to reduce bullying behavior in the school environment.
