Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis -MBG) is one of the Indonesian government's strategic policies aimed at improving the quality of human resources through the fulfillment of students' nutritional needs. This study aims to analyze the shift in priorities within the education and health sectors following the implementation of the MBG program in Indonesia. The research employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. Secondary data were collected from scientific journals, books, government policy documents, research reports, and other relevant academic sources. Data collection was conducted through documentation techniques, while data analysis utilized content analysis through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the MBG program has encouraged a shift in educational priorities from a predominantly academic-oriented approach toward a more holistic perspective that integrates nutrition and student well-being as supporting factors for learning success. In the health sector, the program has contributed to a shift from a curative approach to a preventive approach by emphasizing nutritional fulfillment as a strategy to prevent stunting, malnutrition, and other health problems among school-age children. Furthermore, the MBG program demonstrates the integration of education and health policies within the framework of human resource development. Therefore, the MBG program functions not only as a food assistance initiative but also as a strategic investment in creating a healthier, more educated, and productive generation to support sustainable national development.
