Abstract

This study aimed to describe the development of students' mathematics learning outcomes and determine the effect of the Think Talk Write (TTW) cooperative learning model assisted by animated videos on the mathematics learning outcomes of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 29 Padang. This research employed a descriptive and quasi-experimental method using the Nonequivalent Posttest Only Control Group Design. The population consisted of all seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 29 Padang in the 2025/2026 academic year, totaling 288 students. The samples were selected through simple random sampling, resulting in class VII.8 as the experimental class and class VII.9 as the control class. The research instruments were quizzes and a mathematics achievement test. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using an independent sample t-test. The results showed that the average quiz score of students in the experimental class increased from 59.38 in the first meeting to 79.51 in the sixth meeting. Furthermore, the average mathematics learning outcome of students in the experimental class was 61.81, which was higher than that of the control class at 48.88. The hypothesis testing result showed a p-value of 0.006, which was lower than the significance level of 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Think Talk Write cooperative learning model assisted by animated videos has a positive effect on students' mathematics learning outcomes.
