Abstract

This research aims to develop a mathematics instructional model based realistic mathematics education (RME) to promote students problem-solving abilities. The design research used Plomp models, which consists of preliminary phase, development or proto-typing phase and assessment phase.  At this study, only the first two phases conducted. The first phase, a preliminary investigation, carried out with a literature study to examine the theory-based instructional learning RME model, characteristics of learners, learning management descriptions by junior high school mathematics teacher and relevant research. The development phase is done by developing a draft model (an early prototype model) that consists of the syntax, the social system, the principle of reaction, support systems, and the impact and effects of instructional support. Early prototype model contain a draft model, lesson plans, worksheets, and assessments. Tesssmer formative evaluation model used to revise the model. In this study only phase of one to one evaluation conducted. In the ppreliminary phase has produced a theory-based learning RME model, a description of the characteristics of learners in grade VIII Junior High School Padang and the description of teacher teaching in the classroom. The result showed that most students were still not be able to solve the non-routine problem. Teachers did not optimally facilitate students to develop problem-solving skills of students. It was recommended that the model can be applied in the classroom.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are: 1) to describe the learning activities of learners with the application of Learning Strategy of Improving Thinking Ability (SPPKB) at class VII SMPN 28 Padang academic year 2017/2018, and 2) to know the ability of mathematical connections of learners who were taught by Learning Strategy Improvement Thinking Ability (SPPKB) in class VII SMPN 28 Padang academic year 2017/2018. This type of research was a quasy-experiment with a Randomized Control only Group Design study. Data collection techniques were using observation sheets to see learners' activities and written tests to see the mathematical connections of learners. Based on the results showed that 1) the learning activities of the students increased with the average percentage (75%), (65%), (28%), (45%) and (77%). 2) the ability of mathematical connections of learners who were taught with SPPKB was higher than the ability of mathematical connections of learners who were not taught with SPPKB on class VII SMPN 28 Padang Lesson Year 2017/2018. Abstract

Mathematics learning that occurred in SMP Negeri 5 Kerinci still centered on the teacher. Teachers tend to give concepts and formulas and how to use them, resulting in low student learning outcomes. This study aims to improve understanding of concept and problem solving ability of mathematics through cooperative type model of TPS. The research is classroom action research with 2 cycles.The subjects of this study are the students of class IX C SMP Negeri 5 Kerinci amounted to 21. This class is chosen as the subject of research because the researchers teach the class, the concept understanding and solving the mathematical problems of students are still low, the lack of attention of students in learning mathematics, and viewing the learning of mathematics is a difficult lesson and the activity of students in the classroom is limited to listening, recording and working on the problem The results showed the application of cooperative learning model type Think-Pair-Share can improve concept understanding and mathematical problem solving and based on the result of questionnaire and the interview given can improve the motivation of studying student of class IX C SMP Negeri 5 Kerinci.

Abstract

This study originated from the critical thinking ability of mathematical learners who are still low. The low critical mathematical thinking ability is due to the unavailability of student worksheets that can support the improvement of critical thinking skills of mathematical learners. The learning process has not been able to help learners to build and develop their knowledge in finding their own principles / procedures of mathematics. The purpose of this study is to produce an inquiry-based learner workbook to improve the critical thinking skills mathematically learners class VIII SMP / MTs. The development research carried out uses the Plomp development model. This Plomp development model consists of three phases, namely the initial investigation phase, prototype development phase and assessment phase. Learning worksheets developed based on inquiry. Based on the development that has been done, obtained the sheet of students of mathematics-based inquiry for class VIII SMP / MTs that meet the preliminary research criteria.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop the learning design based on Realistic Mathematics Education and to develop reasoning skills. The research design combines the Plomp model and the Gravemeijer and Cobb model, that consist of preliminary research phase, prototype development phase, preparation for the experiment, the implementation of the experiment, restrosfective analysis, and assessment phase. Data were collected through tests, interviews, observation, questionnaire and field notes. The subject of this research is VII grade student inislamic junior hight shcool 6 Piladang. The Learning design that was developed learning trajectory, that include learning objectives, activities, and prediction of students' answers implemented through the lesson plan and student worksheet. The result of this research produced a learning design which are valid, practical and effective. They are valid in terms of content and language, practical in terms of implementation, simplicity and required time.Effective in term of the impact of students’ mathematical reasoning skills.

Abstract

This research was derived from the low ability of students’ problem solving. One of the factors was the students didn’t understand the problem of mathematics related to real life and the development of learning media like students’ worksheet had not been optimal yet in school. One of the efforts done was by using students’ worksheet based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). The purpose of this research is to describe the characteristics of mathematical worksheet based on CTL to improve the problem solving ability of students in junior high school that fulfills the criteria of valid. This research used plomp development model. The plomp model consists of three phases, namely preliminary research, prototyping and assessment phase. Based on the development done, it could be obtained students’ worksheet based on CTL in junior high school valid.

Abstract

This study was aiming at determining the impact of mathematics learning instruments based on flipped classroom in improving students' mathematical reasoning abilities. This is development research adapting the Plomp development model. This research was conducted in three stages: preliminary research, prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The subjects of this study were students one of the senior high schools in Padang, Indonesia. The instrument used was a test of mathematical reasoning ability. Data were analyzed by quantitative methods. The results showed the number of students achieving the minimum criteria of mastering learning concerning mathematical reasoning ability,  increasing from 47.22% to 75%. The mathematical reasoning ability of students in groups increased from the first to the fifth meeting, and the level of implementation of learning by the teacher was in a good category. This means that the learning tools based on Flipped Classroom were effective in improving students' mathematical reasoning abilities.

Abstract

Technological development is very possible to use in learning activities for improving the quality of education. Much research has strongly advocated the use and integration of technology in the learning process. One form of utilization of these technologies is the use of E-Modules. E-modules in learning are teaching materials used in assisting learning activities in the form of soft-files that are operated through computers. Interactive e-learning module motivates students to learn more spiritually, actively and independently that can be used by teachers in the learning process. E-Modules allow students to learn not only in the classroom but wherever they are. However, there are many teachers who cannot create or design e-modules. In West Sumatra itself, especially the city of Padang Panjang, e-modules are unknown by teachers. Based on the results of interviews with math subject teachers who are also chairmen of the High School Mathematics MGMP in Padang Panjang City, in general the teachers in the city of Padang Panjang do not know about e-modules and really need training or guidance on e-modules themselves to improve quality their learning in class. Based on this, it was felt necessary to implement an activity program to improve the ability of mathematics teachers in desaining E-Modules in the Padang Panjang city with the partners of Mathematics MGMP. This activity will be facilitated by the IT team who will explain the ins and outs of the E-Module so that technical knowledge about e-modules can be properly controlled by partners. In addition to the IT team this program also involves a team of Mathematics experts who will evaluate the modules designed by teachers during the implementation of the activities so that the quality of modules that can be used by students can be maintained. The mechanism for implementing PKM activities is carried out using action research steps which consist of 4 (four) stages, namely: planning, action, observation and evaluation, and reflection. The implementation of this activity creates e-learning modules that can be designed by subject teachers, especially mathematics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan alur belajar berbasis Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) untuk membantu peserta didik dalam menemukan konsep luas juring dan panjang busur lingkaran. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian desain. Metode ini merupakan suatu proses siklis dari preparing for the experiment, conducting the experiment, dan retrospective analysis. Penelitian ini difokuskan untuk merancang alur belajar, memvalidasinya, dan mengimplementasikannya secara kelompok kecil. Alur belajar yang telah divalidasi dan direvisi selanjutnya diujicobakan di kelas. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, video, dan analisis jawaban peserta didik. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa HLT dan lembar kerja peserta didik. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis secara kualitatif. Pada tahap pertama dilakukan perancangan Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) dan lembar kerja peserta didik dengan menggunakan pendekatan RME melalui studi literatur. Pada tahap kedua dilakukan uji coba HLT pada enam orang peserta didik secara kelompok kecil dengan kemampuan tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Pada tahap ketiga dilakukan analisis terhadap hasil uji coba di mana diperoleh bahwa sebagian besar peserta didik kesulitan dalam memahami masalah yang diberikan.  Dari penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan, dihasilkan alur belajar luas juring dan panjang busur untuk kelas VIII SMP yang valid dari segi state of the art RME, konstruksi, dan isi. Dalam implementasinya, alur belajar yang dirancang dapat bekerja sesuai dengan yang dihipotesiskan, sehingga peserta didik dapat menemukan kembali konsep luas juring dan panjang busur melalui proses matematisasi. AbstractThis study aims to produce a learning trajectory based on Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) to assist in finding the concept of  area of sector and length of the arc. The research method used is design research. This method is a cyclical process of preparing for the experiment, conducting the experiment, and retrospective analysis. This research is focused on designing learning trajectories, validating them, and implementing them in small groups. Research data were collected through observation, interviews, videos, and analysis of students' answers. The instruments used were HLT and student worksheets. Data collected were analyzedqualitatively. In the first stage, Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) design and student worksheets are carried out based on RME approach through literature studies. In the second stage, HLT trials were carried out on six students in small groups with high, medium, and low abilities. In the third stage, an analysis of the results of the trial was obtained in which it was found that most of the students had difficulty in understanding the given problem. From the research that has been carried out, the learning flow area of the sector and length of arc for class VIII are valid in terms of the RME state of the art, construction, and content. In its implementation, the learning trajectory that is designed can work following what is hypothesized, so students can find the concept of area of sector and length of arc through the process of mathematization.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematika siswa SMP. Rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi siswa disebabkan oleh oleh (1) pembelajaran masih berpusat kepada guru (2) peserta didik kurang terlibat aktif dalam pembelajaran matematika (3) peserta didik lemah dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal komunikasi matematis. Berdasarkan masalah ini, peneliti mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika berdasarkan strategi REACT untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran matematika yang berorientasi pada strategi REACT untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi siswa yang valid, praktis dan efektif. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan data yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran matematika berupa RPP dan LKPD matematika berbasis strategi REACT untuk kelas VII SMP semester I yang dihasilkan memenuhi kategori valid, praktis, dan efektif. Hasil validitas RPP diperoleh 3,62% dengan kategori  sangat valid dan LKPD diperoleh 3,70% dengan kategori sangat valid. Hasil praktikalitas RPP diperoleh 87,67% dengan kategori sangat praktis dan LKPD diperoleh 90,27% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Sedangkan berdasarkan hasil uji soal tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis One-to-One diperoleh 83,33% dan dan Small Group diperoleh 83,33%  artinya perangkat pembelajaran berbasis strategi REACT sangat efektif terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran matematika layak untuk dijadikan bahan rujukan dalam pembelajaran matematika kelas VII SMP.This research is motivated by the low mathematical communication ability of junior high school students. The low communication ability of students is caused by by (1) learning was still teacher centered (2) students are less actively involved in learning (3) students are weak in solving problems related to mathematical communication skills. Based on this problem, researchers developed a mathematical learning device based on REACT) strategies to improve students communication ability. The purpose of this research is to produce mathematical learning tools oriented on to REACT strategies to improve students communication ability that valid, practical, and effektive. The results of the study based on data obtained showed that mathematical learning devices in the form of RPP and LKPD mathematics based on REACT strategy for class VII junior high school semester I resulted in meeting valid, practical, and effective categories. The results of the validity of the RPP obtained 3,62% with a valid category and LKPD obtained 3,70% in very valid category. RPP practicality results obtained 87,67% with very practical categories and LKPD obtained 90,27% in thevery practical category. While based on the results of tests on mathematical communication ability tests one-to-one obtained 83,33% and small group 83,33% meaning that react strategy based learning devices are very effective on mathematical communication ability. The learning device in this study was concluded to be feasible to be used as a reference material in learning mathematics, especially the material for building flat side spaces for class VII SMP.
