<![CDATA[ABSTRACT This research focuse to the implementation of sima’an bil ghaib as a Qur’anic memorization preservation practice at Pondok Pesantren Tahfizh Ulumul Qur’an Sei Rotan (PTUQSR), Deli Serdang. As an Islamic boarding school specializing in Qur’anic memorization, PTUQSR incorporates this tradition into its regular educational activities to support the accuracy of recitation, maintain the quality of students’ memorization, and cultivate discipline in engaging with the Qur’an. Since 2024, sima’an bil ghaib has been consistently practiced and has become an essential element of the institution’s memorization development program.This research adopts a qualitative design grounded in the Living Qur’an perspective, which seeks to examine how Qur’anic values and teachings are manifested through religious and social practices within the pesantren community. Data were obtained through participant observation, semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, and the examination of relevant institutional documents related to the implementation of sima’an bil ghaib. The collected data were interpreted using a descriptive-analytical approach to uncover the meanings, functions, and educational significance of this tradition in the context of Qur’anic memorization.The findings indicate that sima’an bil ghaib plays an important role in enhancing the retention and accuracy of students’ memorization, strengthening the regular practice of muraja’ah (revision), and encouraging learners to expand their memorization achievements. Moreover, the activity contributes to the development of a stronger spiritual connection between students and the Qur’an while fostering a supportive academic environment centered on tahfizh education. The tradition also serves as a collective evaluation mechanism through which teachers and students can continuously monitor and assess memorization performance. These results demonstrate that sima’an bil ghaib extends beyond its instructional function and contributes to the establishment of a Qur’anic culture that sustains and enriches the long-term development of tahfizh programs within the pesantren setting.]]>
