Abstract

The social rejection barriers students face in academic activities in the classroom require efforts to develop their adaptive abilities, one of which is through the optimization of interpersonal communication skills so that students can become effective learning partners for their peers. This study aims to improve students’ interpersonal communication skills through the application of the ARKA method in group guidance services. This is an Action Research in Guidance and Counseling (PTBK) study conducted collaboratively over three cycles. The research subjects consisted of 8 students from class XI-8 at SMAN 6 Banjarmasin. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, sociometry, and documentation. Data analysis used a comparative descriptive approach by comparing pre-intervention conditions with those in cycles I, II, and III. The results showed an improvement in students’ interpersonal communication skills following the intervention, as evidenced by changes in pre-test and post-test categories and increased student participation. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the ARKA method in group guidance services is effective in improving the interpersonal communication skills of students in Class XI-8 at SMAN 6 Banjarmasin.
