Abstract

Digital disruption has brought about major transformations that pose moral and sociological challenges for Generation Z. The ease of unlimited access to information has led to a moral crisis, including the rise of cyberbullying, the erosion of the culture of tabayyun, the spread of religious hoaxes, and the threat of digital radicalism. This study aims to examine the role of Islamic Religious Education in nurturing and strengthening the moral character of Generation Z amid the rapid pace of digital disruption. The method used is qualitative, specifically a descriptive-analytical literature review, drawing on sources from 2018 to 2026. The results indicate that the moral crisis facing Generation Z can be addressed by actualizing Islamic religious education as an adaptive moral bulwark. There are three main constructive solutions: integrating Islamic digital literacy into Islamic religious education to strengthen critical thinking and the practice of tabayyun; optimizing the role of the family through digital parenting practices; and guiding Generation Z to become producers of educational digital da’wah content. Synergy between school education, family guidance, and the positive use of techn ology is crucial for fostering a generation with noble character.
