<![CDATA[This research was motivated by the low expressive poetry reading ability of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Jaringao. Most students still experienced difficulties in pronunciation, intonation, expression, appreciation, and lacked self-confidence when reading poetry in front of the class. This study aimed to determine the effect of the demonstration method on improving students’ expressive poetry reading skills. The research employed a quantitative approach using an experimental method with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 36 fourth-grade students selected through total sampling. The research instrument was a performance test of expressive poetry reading assessed based on pronunciation, intonation, tempo, facial expression, body movement, comprehension of the poem, appreciation, and eye contact. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results showed that the mean pretest score of 43.33 increased to 89.39 in the posttest. The normality test indicated that the data were not normally distributed; therefore, the analysis was continued using the Wilcoxon test. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test produced an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the demonstration method had a positive and significant effect on improving the expressive poetry reading ability of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Jaringao.]]>
