Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Wordwall educational game based learning model on the mathematics learning motivation of third grade students at SD Negeri 5 Sukawati. The research problem emerged from the low motivation of students in mathematics learning, which was shown by students who were less active, less enthusiastic, and considered mathematics difficult. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method and a one group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 27 third grade students selected through saturated sampling. The research instrument was a mathematics learning motivation questionnaire consisting of indicators of interest, enthusiasm, activeness, persistence, attention, and desire to achieve good learning outcomes. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test because the pretest data did not meet the normality assumption. The results showed that the average score of students learning motivation increased from 63.8 in the pretest to 75.8 in the posttest. The Wilcoxon test obtained an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000, which was lower than 0.05. These findings indicate that the Wordwalleducational game based learning model has a positive and significant effect on students mathematics learning motivation. Wordwall provides interactive activities, immediate feedback, and a pleasant classroom atmosphere, so it can be used as an alternative learning model for elementary mathematics.
