Abstract

Students' critical thinking skills in learning branching structures in Python remain relatively low, and research addressing this issue is still limited. This can be attributed to learning materials being dominated by textbooks and hands-on practice without accommodating different learning styles, as well as the lack of integration between active learning models and interactive media. This study aimed to design an interactive e-module supporting the visual aspect of the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual) learning model and to evaluate its effectiveness in improving students' critical thinking skills in learning branching structures in Python. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model and a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 30 eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Ngamprah. Critical thinking skills were measured using the RED indicators, a framework adapted from the Watson-Glaser model. Validation results showed that the media was deemed highly suitable for use, with a media expert suitability rating of 84% and a subject matter expert suitability rating of 83.75%. Results from the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test revealed a significant difference between the pretest score (53.4) and the posttest score (78.9) (p < 0.001), with an N-Gain value of 0.571, categorized as moderate. These findings indicate that integrating the SAVI model with interactive e-modules can enhance students' critical thinking skills in learning branching structures in Python and serve as an alternative learning strategy for computer science education at the high school level.
