Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dialectics of the Qur'anic meaning of the hijab between spiritual piety and Muslim women's fashion trends in the digital era. The research employs a qualitative method using a library research approach. The data were collected from Qur'anic verses, particularly Surah An-Nūr [24]: 31 and Surah Al-Aḥzāb [33]: 59, classical and contemporary Qur'anic commentaries, and scholarly literature discussing the hijab, digital culture, and Muslim fashion. The data were analyzed descriptively and interpretively to explore the normative meaning of the hijab and its interaction with contemporary social realities. The findings reveal that the hijab, from the Qur'anic perspective, symbolizes spiritual devotion, dignity, and the moral identity of Muslim women. However, the rise of social media has reconstructed its meaning through commodification, aestheticization, and consumer culture centered on visual representation. Nevertheless, Muslim fashion trends also provide opportunities for creativity and identity negotiation within modern society. Therefore, Qur'anic value-based digital literacy is essential to ensure that the practice of wearing the hijab remains grounded in ethics, modesty, and piety while responding constructively to the challenges of the digital age.
