Abstract

This study aims to examine the direct influence of logical thinking skills on the effectiveness of Field Work Practice (PKL), and to examine the role of independent learning ability as an intervening variable that mediates the influence of logical thinking skills on the effectiveness of PKL among vocational high school students. This study employed a quantitative approach with a causal design, involving 85 grade XII Accounting students of SMK N 6 Surakarta, selected through simple random sampling from a population of 108 students. Data were collected through a logical thinking skills test and questionnaires measuring independent learning ability and PKL effectiveness, then analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS software. The results show that logical thinking skills have a positive and significant direct influence on the effectiveness of PKL (original sample 0.328; T-statistics 3.069; p 0.001). Furthermore, independent learning ability was proven to significantly mediate the influence of logical thinking skills on the effectiveness of PKL (specific indirect effect 0.291; T-statistics 3.927; p 0.000), indicating that the mediation is partial in nature. These findings confirm that logical thinking skills enhance the effectiveness of PKL both directly and indirectly through students' independent learning ability.
