Abstract

Beginning writing skills are an essential basic competency for elementary school students. However, many students in the early grades still experience difficulties in recognizing letters, constructing words and simple sentences, and applying correct spelling. This study aims to examine teachers' strategies for improving beginning writing skills through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The data were obtained from 20 scientific articles published between 2018 and 2026, collected through Google Scholar, and analyzed using the stages of identification, selection, evaluation, and synthesis. The findings indicate that the use of visual learning media, innovative learning models, individual guidance, step-by-step writing practice, motivation, and collaborative learning effectively improve students' beginning writing skills. The study concludes that no single strategy is the most effective; instead, a combination of strategies tailored to students' characteristics and learning needs produces more optimal outcomes. Therefore, teachers should implement innovative, student-centered learning to support the development of students' early literacy skills.
