Abstract

An educator's work motivation is a critical factor in enhancing the quality of education in schools. Low work motivation can lead to a decline in teacher performance, instructional effectiveness, and the achievement of educational goals. This study aims to analyze the role of the principal in increasing the work motivation of educators through intrinsic and extrinsic approaches at SDN Tegal Alur 19 Petang. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing in-depth interviews for data collection. The entire interview process was recorded using voice notes to document the proceedings and ensure the accuracy of the research data. The subject of this research is the principal of SDN Tegal Alur 19 Petang. The results indicate that the principal plays a strategic role in boosting teachers' work motivation through effective interpersonal communication, periodic supervision, non-financial appreciation, fair task distribution, and involving teachers in decision-making. Intrinsic motivation is reflected in the increased sense of responsibility, professional commitment, and dedication of the teachers, while extrinsic motivation is evident through moral support, recognition, and a harmonious working environment. This study concludes that the combination of both motivational approaches successfully enhances the morale and professionalism of educators.
