Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning motivation of students in the General Administration subject at SMKN 2 Nganjuk, caused by limited teaching materials and teacher-centered instruction, while students have diverse learning characteristics requiring interactive, flexible, and accessible digital materials. This study aims to examine the effect of a Canva-based interactive e-module with an Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) approach on the learning motivation of eleventh-grade MPLB students on official travel documents. The IBL approach was implemented through orientation, problem formulation, hypothesis formulation, data collection, hypothesis testing, and drawing conclusions, supported by interactive materials, instructional videos, case studies, and analytical assignments within the e-module. This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental Posttest-Only Control Group Design, involving 58 students divided into an experimental class (n = 29) and a control class (n = 29) using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a valid and reliable Likert-scale learning motivation questionnaire (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.897) and analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and Independent Samples t-tests. Results showed a significant difference in learning motivation between the experimental and control classes (p = 0.002 < 0.05), with the experimental class mean (68.10) higher than the control class (61.03). The effect size (Cohen's d = 0.861) was large, indicating a strong practical impact. Thus, the Canva-based interactive e-module with the IBL approach can serve as an effective digital teaching material alternative to enhance students' learning motivation in the General Administration subject at vocational high schools.
