This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning model based on Socio Scientific Issue on students' environmental literacy on environmental pollution material at SMA Negeri 2 Pangururan. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The data collection technique was carried out through an environmental literacy test instrument in the form of 25 multiple-choice questions and 3 essay questions used to determine data on aspects of students' knowledge and cognitive skills. A questionnaire instrument was used to obtain data on aspects of students' attitudes and behaviors. This research instrument was made in accordance with environmental literacy indicators adapted from the Middle School Environment Literacy Survey (MSELS), which includes aspects of knowledge, attitudes, cognitive skills, and behavior. The results of the study showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was in the very good category, while the control class was in the good category. The results of the independent sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.01), which means there is a very significant influence of the Problem Based Learning model based on Socio-Scientific Issues on students' environmental literacy. Thus, the Problem Based Learning model based on Socio-Scientific Issues is effective in improving students' environmental literacy on environmental pollution material.
