Abstract

The importance of mathematical literacy as a fundamental foundation for facing the challenges of modern progress contrasts with students' test results in the field, which are still relatively low, as reflected in the 2022 PISA results. Several mathematical abilities are believed to be related to mathematical literacy, including mathematical communication skills and mathematical reflective thinking skills. This study therefore examines the relationship of these two skills with students’ mathematical literacy. A quantitative correlational design was applied, involving Class XI B students at MAN 2 Pontianak selected through cluster random sampling. Data were collected using a mathematical communication skills test, a mathematical reflective thinking skills test, and a mathematical literacy test, then analyzed through Pearson Product-Moment correlation and multiple correlation. The findings showed a strong positive relationship between mathematical communication skills and mathematical literacy (ρ = 0,612), as well as a strong positive relationship between mathematical reflective thinking skills and mathematical literacy (ρ = 0,751). Simultaneously, both variables significantly contributed to students' mathematical literacy, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 61.7%, which is greater than partially.
