Abstract

This study examines the relationship between tahfizh Al-Qur’an practices and the Living Al-Qur’an framework at Muhammadiyah Boarding School (MBS) Ki Bagus Hadikusumo, Jampang, Bogor. Living Al-Qur’an is understood as a phenomenon in which the Qur’an is not merely read but embedded into santri’s daily routines through sustained engagement that integrates classical sanad transmission with contemporary supporting tools. Using a qualitative field-research design, primary data were collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews with caregivers, teachers, and santri, supplemented by documentation of school records, curricula, and memorization achievements, then analyzed through data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Findings show that tahfizh instruction proceeds through tahsin-tashih, ziyadah, and muraja’ah stages, supported by talaqqi-musyafahah, takrir-tikrar, sabaq-sabqi-manzil, and sima’i methods, all managed through disciplined time allocation and routine evaluation so that memorization targets remain achievable alongside a full national curriculum and extracurricular commitments. The study demonstrates that Living Al-Qur’an can thrive within a modern dual-curriculum boarding school, offering a replicable model and policy implications for inclusive Islamic education that balances religious depth with academic excellence.
