Abstract

Instilling environmental awareness in early childhood often faces challenges, particularly the mismatch between school and home environments, necessitating integrative and collaborative learning strategies. This study aims to describe the implementation of Nature-Based Learning (NBL) at the Cahaya Hasanah Nature Preschool (PAUD Alam), Banda Aceh, in fostering children's environmental responsibility. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used. Data were collected through participant observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, and parents. The findings indicate that environmental character building is implemented through three main stages: value introduction, habituation through direct experiences such as gardening and plastic-free market days, and reinforcement through school-family synergy. While this strategy is effective in increasing children's discipline and awareness, active parental involvement remains a crucial factor in bridging the gap between school and home habits. Overall, NBL has proven effective in building the foundation of ecological character in early childhood.
