Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of literacy learning and its implications for the speaking ability of third-grade students at Dapena Elementary School, Surabaya, with indicators of speaking ability, namely fluency, pronunciation, intonation, vocabulary, and student understanding. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with triangulation data collection between observation, interviews and documentation supported by questionnaires to determine the development of third-grade students' speaking ability and uses Miles and Huberman data analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that literacy learning has a positive implication for the development of students' speaking ability quite significantly. The implication of this study shows that literacy learning needs to be implemented in a structured and sustainable manner to improve students' speaking ability optimally.
