Abstract

Proper knowledge of medication management is rarely introduced at the elementary school level, even though errors in obtaining, using, storing, and disposing of medicines can pose health risks to children and families. This community service activity aimed to improve fourth-grade students' knowledge of medication management at MI Al-Ishlah through education on the DAGUSIBU principle (Obtain, Use, Store, Dispose). The method used was direct health education with a participatory and interactive approach, including material delivery using simple language and concrete examples, question-and-answer sessions, and a "May or May Not?" evaluation activity. The results showed active student engagement throughout the education process and students' ability to distinguish safe from unsafe actions related to medicine use, particularly the prohibition on using other people's medicine, the importance of seeking parental assistance, safe storage practices, and the prohibition on treating medicine like candy. The activity also generated early awareness among students regarding the importance of safe medication management, which has the potential to be passed on to their families at home. It can be concluded that DAGUSIBU education using an interactive approach is effective as an initial step in building medication literacy among elementary school students, and should therefore be conducted on an ongoing basis involving teachers and parents.
