Abstract

This study aims to examine the mediating role of work motivation in the influence of transformational leadership on employee performance at Toko Emas Bintang. This research is motivated by the variation in employee performance that is not optimal, as well as indications that work motivation and transformational leadership have not been fully felt consistently by all employees. The study used an associative quantitative approach. The research population amounted to 41 employees and all of them were sampled with saturated sampling techniques. Data was collected through a questionnaire with a Likert scale and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with the help of SmartPLS 4.0. The results of the study show that transformational leadership does not have a significant effect on employee performance. However, transformational leadership has a positive and significant effect on work motivation, while work motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. In addition, work motivation has been shown to be able to significantly mediate the influence of transformational leadership on employee performance. Thus, improving employee performance at Toko Emas Bintang is more effectively achieved through strengthening work motivation built through the application of transformational leadership.
