Abstract

This article proposes a conceptual integration between Moderated Elite Stability Theory (MEST) and Integrated Reality Theory (IRT) to explain Indonesia's post-Reform economic transformation. MEST—in its proposed framework—describes the mechanisms for the formation of political stability through the interaction between elite concentration, elite coordination, and institutional quality. IRT describes how such stability, along with information quality, state reflective capacity, systemic entropy level, and speed of institutional evolution, affects economic productivity. A two-level mathematical model is proposed: Phase I (MEST)— ; Stage II (IRT) — , , , and as a standardized productivity index. Four theoretical propositions are formulated as initial hypotheses. Substantively, this article argues that the effectiveness of economic transformation is largely determined by the state's ability to decrease systemic entropy, build reflective capacity, and conditionally direct the speed of evolution. This model offers an initial operational framework that requires constructive validation and empirical testing..
