Abstract

This study examines the impact of service quality delivery on customer satisfaction in Nigeria's banking industry. The research aims to consolidate existing findings on the influence of service quality in Nigerian banks. Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, the study conducted a systematic search for relevant articles through Google Scholar, following predetermined protocols. The analysis revealed a positive relationship between service quality delivery and customer satisfaction in Nigerian banks. The SERVQUAL model emerged as the most frequently used framework in the existing literature. However, despite its widespread application, discrepancies remain regarding which service quality dimensions best predict customer satisfaction. The study underscores the importance of banks innovating their service offerings by optimizing technological and digital service channels to meet customers' banking needs. Furthermore, it suggests that future research using the SERVQUAL model should incorporate technological and digital service dimensions to produce more contextually relevant results. To address service inefficiencies in the banking sector, the study recommends that the Central Bank of Nigeria incentivize service quality improvements by establishing benchmarks for rewards and penalties based on performance assessment scorecards, thereby fostering healthy competition in service delivery among banks.
